On today's show, we have Dr. Eric Widra, the medical director of Shady Grove Fertility and the associate director of the Combined Federal Fellowship and Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility, to talk about oncofertility. Dr. Widra shares with us some valuable insights into the resources available for patients diagnosed with cancer, the timeline for discussing fertility preservation options, and various options for preserving fertility. He explains that early conversation and sometimes repetitive conversations about what fertility preservation means for the patient's future is vital. Dr. Widra highlights that while ovarian tissue preservation and elective planned oocyte cryopreservation may be options for some women, not everyone is a candidate. Tune in to learn more about oncofertility and the options available to cancer patients to preserve their fertility.
